TS Note: A reference to this house is presumably Cooper, The History of St Kilda, I, p 233. A photograph of the house of James Service was among those sent in 1873 to the Vienna Exhibition illustrating palatial homes of the borough (of St Kilda). Clarke, Clarke of Rupertswood, p 56. James Service's marriage had broken up, and from the early 1860s he lived with Louisa Hoseason Forty, by whom he had several daughters.
