In 1891 name section Groom is listed as both Orrong Rd & Stawell St, Kew & in 1892 he is in South Rd Brighton (at 'Harefield', qv). Betty Malone, Notes on Prahran section 9 states that Laluma was built in the 1860s by Arthur Groom, businessman & close associate of Sir Matthew Davies. Groom later moved to Queensland & 'Laluma' was then occupied by Mrs Thomas Smith. TS Note: Biography of Groom in Vic & Met, ii, p 477 however, records that Groom came from St Mary's, Tasmania to Victoria in 1872. Elected as MLA for South Gippsland in 1886.
